Microsoft has launched a new, AI-powered Bing search engine aimed at improving the experience of billions of people using the web every day. The new Bing provides an improved version of the familiar search experience, offering more relevant results for simple searches, such as sports scores, stock prices, and weather, as well as a new sidebar that displays more comprehensive answers if needed.
Chat Experience
The new chat experience allows for more complex searches, such as planning a detailed trip itinerary, with the ability to refine the search until the user finds the complete answer they are looking for.
Edge browser
The new Edge browser has also been updated with AI capabilities and a new look and now includes two new functionalities: Chat and Compose. With the Edge Sidebar, users can ask for a summary of a financial report and then use the chat function to ask for a comparison to a competitor’s financials, which will be automatically put into a table.
The Compose functionality allows the user to ask Edge to help compose content, such as a LinkedIn post, by providing a few prompts to get started and then refine the tone, format, and length of the post.
The new Bing and Edge are designed to empower people to unlock the joy of discovery, feel the wonder of creation, and better harness the world’s knowledge. With an estimated 10 billion search queries every day, Microsoft believes that AI will fundamentally change every software category, starting with search, and the new Bing and Edge are aimed at helping people get more from search and the web. The company views these tools as an AI copilot for the web, providing a unified experience that combines search, browsing, and chat.
