When rewording is worth it
A text is finished in substance but reads awkwardly, is too long or strikes the wrong tone. You enter it, name the goal, and the AI rewrites it. The aim is that the statements stay and only the language changes; so proofread the result.
"Clearer and smoother" evens out sentence structure and word choice, "Shorter" cuts filler words, "More detailed" adds transitions. "Plain language" is meant to make the text easier to understand, "More formal" suits business correspondence, "More casual" suits social media. Texts you created with AI also become more natural and personal this way.
How it works
- 1
Paste the text
Copy the text into the field, from a single sentence to several paragraphs.
- 2
Choose a goal
Decide between clearer, shorter, more detailed, plain language, more formal or more casual.
- 3
Have it paraphrased
The AI delivers the new version; the content should stay the same.
- 4
Check and use
Proofread the result, especially numbers, names and quotes, copy it or have it refined further in the chat.
Typical uses
Business email and job application
Turn a quickly typed message into a polite, formal tone.
Term paper and presentation
Make your own sentences flow better or turn technical text into plain language.
Product copy and social media
Write descriptions shorter and clearer or make a formal text sound more casual.
Good to know
- Six goals: clearer and smoother, shorter, more detailed, plain language, more formal, more casual.
- Works for English, German and most other languages; the output stays in the language of the original.
- Usable without signing up: each run is billed by actual usage, depending on text length and model; you get a starting allowance as a guest too.
- In the chat you reach the tool with the shortcut /paraphrase and can refine the result there directly.
- The result does not replace a citation: paraphrased third-party texts still have to be cited.
Frequently asked questions
Can I set the style?
Yes. Choose a goal such as "More formal" or "More casual" and add a note if needed, for example who the text is meant for.
Does the meaning of the text stay the same?
That is the instruction: statements, numbers and names should stay, only the wording changes. Still, always proofread the result, especially with numbers, quotes and technical texts.
Is the paraphrased text free of plagiarism?
A paraphrase does not replace a citation. In a term paper you still have to cite third-party content, for example in APA or MLA style.
What is the difference between rewording and paraphrasing?
Both terms mean rendering a text in other words and are often used interchangeably. Here you instead choose a concrete goal such as shorter, clearer or more formal and add a note if needed.
Which languages does paraphrasing work in?
English, German and most other languages. The reply comes in the language you enter the text in.
Can I have the same text paraphrased several times?
Yes. Start a new run with a different goal or write in the chat, for example, "even shorter". Each pass is billed again by usage.
Is there a length limit?
Without credit there is a character limit per message, currently 5,000 characters without signing up and 10,000 characters with a free account. With credit or a subscription the plan limit does not apply; technically up to 100,000 characters per message are possible. Very long texts are better split into sections, then the quality stays even.
