Meaning, not words

An AI translator reads the whole text and rewrites it in the target language instead of swapping word for word. Idioms, irony and technical language should keep their meaning. As with any machine translation, a passage can miss the mark, so for important texts it's worth looking over the result.

Tone is an important lever here. The same email sounds different to a customer than to a colleague, and in many languages the form of address shapes the impression. You choose Neutral, Formal or Casual and get a version that fits, without rewording afterwards.

That's useful wherever a text needs to land: in quotes and job applications, in website and shop copy, in messages to friends abroad, or when making sense of an article in a foreign language.

How it works

  1. 1

    Paste text

Copy the text into the input field; you don't need to specify the source language.

  2. 2

    Choose target language

Pick a target language from the list or name another language directly in the text.

  3. 3

    Set the tone

Decide between Neutral, Formal and Casual, depending on who the text is for.

  4. 4

    Use the translation

Copy the result or ask in the chat for changes, such as shorter, more polite or with a different technical term.

Good to know

  • 24 target languages in the selection, including English, Polish, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese and Arabic; you can name other languages in the text on request, and for rare languages you should proofread the result. The source language is usually detected automatically.
  • Three tones: Neutral, Formal (polite address) and Casual (informal address), as far as the target language makes that distinction.
  • Follow-ups are possible: you can have the translation adjusted in the chat without starting over.
  • Cost: you're billed for actual usage per reply, depending on text length and model; a starting allowance is available without signing up.
  • The text is sent to the selected AI model and stays in your history until you delete it.
  • For photos with foreign-language text there's the Image Translator, for typos in the source text the Grammar Check.

Frequently asked questions

Which languages can I translate into?

The selection offers 24 target languages, including English, French, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Polish, Chinese, Japanese and Arabic. You can name other languages in the text on request; for rare languages, proofread the result. The AI usually detects the source language on its own.

What does the tone do?

“Formal” uses polite address and businesslike wording, for example for business letters. “Casual” uses informal address and sounds like a message to friends. “Neutral” sticks to the tone of the original.

How long can the text be?

Without credit, a character limit per message applies: currently 5,000 characters without signing up and 10,000 characters with a free account. With credit or a subscription there is no plan limit; technically, up to 100,000 characters per message are possible. Very long texts are better translated in sections, which keeps things manageable.

What does a translation cost?

That depends on text length and model; you're billed for actual usage per reply. You get a starting allowance even without signing up, and with an account you can keep an eye on your credit.

Are my texts stored?

The text is sent to the selected AI model for translation; what the provider stores is governed by its terms. It stays in your history until you delete the chat.

How good is the translation?

The AI takes context, idioms and technical terms into account and rewrites the text in the target language. Errors are still possible; contracts or official documents should be proofread by a person.

Can I specify technical terms or names?

Yes. Just add which terms should stay unchanged or how they should be translated, for example product names or department names.
