Article Summarizer: Summarize Webpages with AI
Chat shortcut: /website
Article summarizer instead of a long read: paste the address of an article, choose Short, Medium or Detailed, and the AI delivers the most important points. Then you ask follow-up questions in the same chat.
With Account
First the key points, then the follow-up questions
You only enter the address. Our server fetches the page, strips scripts, navigation, headers, footers and forms, and passes the remaining text to the chosen AI model; leftovers such as ads can remain, and very long pages are cut down to the beginning. Short means five to seven bullet points, Medium is organized by section with about 150 to 250 words, Detailed delivers sections with headings and the important statements; the lengths are instructions to the model.
In the “Your question or task” field you steer the result: “only the prices and deadlines”, “as a table”, “in German” or a specific question about the content right away. The page text stays in the chat as a snapshot, so you can ask follow-up questions and go deeper into sections without entering the address again; a new address or a document upload replaces the previous source. For PDF and Office files there is “AI summarizer”, for videos “YouTube video summarizer”.
How it works
- 1
Paste the address
Copy the URL of the article into the “Website Address” field.
- 2
Choose a length
Short for a quick overview, Medium for bullet points per section, Detailed for the important statements with headings.
- 3
Add a task (optional)
Write down what matters to you, for example “only the results” or “in English, even though the page is in German”.
- 4
Start and ask follow-ups
Read the bullet points and ask follow-up questions in the same chat; the model answers based on the stored page text.
Good to know
- Input: a publicly accessible web page up to 10 MB; what is read is the text of the page, not images, videos or content loaded later by script. Per message, the first address is read; very long texts are cut down to the beginning.
- Three lengths (Short, Medium, Detailed) plus an optional task field for focus, form or language; you choose the model in the input field.
- Billed by actual usage per reply: the longer the page and the summary, the more tokens; no subscription needed. Importing web pages requires a free account with a daily allowance.
- The page text goes to the provider of the chosen model; what it stores is governed by its terms. In the chat via the shortcut /website.
Frequently asked questions
Does this work with every page?
With publicly accessible pages. Content behind a login or a paywall cannot be read, nor can pages that build their text by script only. In that case, copy the text into the chat; the character limit per message applies there (10,000 characters with an account and no credit).
Do I need an account?
Yes, a free account with a daily allowance; a subscription is not needed, beyond that you pay by usage.
Which language is the summary in?
Usually in the language you use ChatX in, even for pages in other languages. If you want a different one, write it into the task field, for example “summary in Spanish”.
How do I control what goes into the summary?
Through the length and the task field. There you can enter “in three sentences”, “only the arguments against”, “all figures as a table” or “explained for beginners”.
Can I ask questions about the page afterward?
Yes. The page text stays in the chat as a snapshot from the time it was fetched: “What does the article say about costs?” or “Summarize the section on risks in more detail.” A new address or a document upload replaces the page as the source; parts that were cut are missing in follow-ups too.
How reliable is the summary?
It usually captures the key points, but it can leave out nuances or misrepresent individual statements. For contracts, health or financial topics, read the decisive passages in the original and ask specific questions in the chat.
