MP3 Cutter Online – Save a Clip as MP3, M4A or WAV

Chat shortcut: /cutaudio

MP3 cutter with no installation: upload a file, enter start and end, download the clip. Also works with M4A, WAV, OGG, FLAC and AAC.

No Sign-Up

Free · The uploaded file is deleted after 24 hours; the result stays in “My media”.

One clip, three output formats

A recording is rarely usable from start to finish: there is chatter before the interview, three more minutes of song after the favorite chorus, and the voice note begins with ten seconds of rustling. With the MP3 cutter you keep just the part you need.

You enter start and end in seconds, decimals included, and choose the output format. MP3 is the all-rounder for messengers, phones and the web, M4A (AAC) the compact option for Apple devices and ringtones, WAV the uncompressed version for editing software and further processing.

Cutting happens on our server, so all you need is an up-to-date browser on a computer or phone, with nothing to install. Afterwards you can use the clip straight away: convert it to the format of your choice, compress, transcribe or generate captions.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload a file

Drag the audio file into the box or select it, up to 50 MB and 60 minutes.

  2. 2

    Set start and end

Enter both times in seconds, for example 83.5 to 112; an end of 0 means the end of the file.

Decide between MP3, M4A or WAV, depending on where the clip is going.

  4. 4

    Download the clip

Click "Let's go", have a quick listen and download the result.

Typical uses

Ringtone

20 to 30 seconds of a chorus as MP3 (Android) or as M4A for iPhone; for iPhone, rename the file to .m4r and then transfer it to the phone yourself.

Shorten a voice note

Cut off the lead-in and tail before you share it in a messaging app.

Podcast snippet

Cut out the best minute of an episode as a teaser for social media.

Split an interview

Save individual answers as separate files and then transcribe them.

Audio sample

Export a section of a song or audiobook as WAV for further editing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the right seconds?

Play the file in the preview and read the time from the player. Fractions of a second are allowed, for example 12.5. If you leave the end at 0, the clip runs to the end of the file.

Which formats can I upload?

MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, FLAC and AAC up to 50 MB and 60 minutes. The clip is saved as MP3, M4A or WAV.

Do I lose quality?

The clip is re-encoded. With MP3 (192 kbit/s) and M4A that is another lossy encoding, whose effects can be audible depending on the source material. WAV is saved as uncompressed 16-bit PCM (higher bit depths are reduced to 16 bit) and is suitable for further editing.

Can I make a ringtone from it?

Yes. Cut out 20 to 30 seconds and save them as MP3 for Android. For iPhone, choose M4A and rename the file to .m4r; then transfer it to the iPhone yourself and set it as your ringtone there, since the tool can't do that part for you.

Can I remove a part from the middle?

The tool cuts one continuous clip. To take the middle out, cut two parts in two runs and join them in an audio program.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in current browsers on iPhone and Android. You select the file from your files or voice memos and enter the times just like on a PC.

What happens to my file?

The uploaded file stays on our server for up to 24 hours and is then deleted by an hourly cleanup job. The finished clip stays in your media library. Cutting uses no tokens.
