How the AI separates voice and music

Vocals used to be reduced only with tricks like canceling the stereo center, and the result sounded muffled. Today an AI model splits the song into individual stems: it has learned from many tracks what voice, drums, bass and accompaniment sound like and assigns each part of the sound to the matching stem. The instrumental is then remixed without the voice.

With studio recordings the result is usually usable, including rap and multi-part vocals. Quiet vocal remnants, missing instrument parts or small artifacts are still possible, especially when voice and instruments overlap heavily, with lots of reverb or with concert recordings with an audience. Listen through the instrumental before using it.

You need the tool for karaoke nights, for singing along and practicing with the original band, for cover versions, background music in your own videos or as the basis for a remix.

Frequently asked questions

How good is the separation?

Usually usable with studio recordings; with live recordings and heavy reverb, remnants are more likely to remain audible. Choirs and background voices are meant to be removed too; listen through the result before using it.

How do I get the best result?

Upload the complete track in good quality, preferably as WAV or FLAC rather than heavily compressed MP3. The cleaner the source, the fewer remnants in the instrumental.

Which formats and lengths are supported?

MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, FLAC up to 50 MB and 10 minutes. The result is an MP3 at 192 kbit/s. For videos, extract the audio first with “Convert MP4 to MP3”.

What does it cost?

Billing is per second or part thereof of the song at the price shown above the form. You see the exact total after selecting the file and before you start. You need an account.

What if I want to keep the voice, not the music?

Then use the “Vocal Isolator” tool: it delivers the voice without accompaniment, for example as an a cappella for a remix.

Am I allowed to do this?

That depends on the rights to the material and the terms of use. With your own recordings you decide yourself; for other people's tracks, especially when publishing, you need the rights to the original. The uploaded file is deleted after 24 hours, the instrumental stays in your media library.
