What happens when reversing and what it is good for
A video that runs backwards is not made by rewinding faster: all frames are reassembled in reverse order and saved as a new file. That is why the tool has to read the whole clip first, and that is why the length here is limited to 60 seconds. For effects that is usually enough, because the reversed part is mostly only a few seconds long.
Typical uses: a jump that leads back onto the wall, shards that join into a vase, a spilled glass that fills up again, or a rewind moment in a Reel. Footage whose ending is better than its beginning can be rescued this way too. Editing software needs several steps for this; here it is one upload.
You decide about the sound yourself: “Play in reverse” reverses the audio track as well, which is often what makes noises appealing. With speech or music, “Mute” is the better choice; afterwards you put a new track underneath in your platform or editing app.

- Audio optionally reversed as well or muted; there is no “original audio forwards” mode. When reversing, the first audio track is re-encoded as AAC, further audio tracks are dropped.
- Frame rate at most 30 frames per second; a clip is downsized before reversing if duration, frame rate and pixel count together exceed the memory budget, which can also affect short clips at very high resolution.

Frequently asked questions
How long can the video be?
Up to 60 seconds and 96 MB. To reverse, the server has to hold all frames in memory at the same time, hence this limit. Shorten videos of up to 96 MB and 15 minutes first with “Video Trimmer”, larger ones in a video program.
Is the resolution kept?
That depends on duration, frame rate and pixel count together: if the clip fits the memory budget, the resolution stays; otherwise it is downsized before reversing, even a short clip at very high resolution. The frame rate is limited to at most 30 frames per second.
Is the sound played backwards too?
Yes, if you choose “Play in reverse”. Speech spoken backwards cannot be understood; for Reels, choose “Mute” instead and add music in the platform.
Which formats can I upload?
MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI, WMV, FLV and 3GP, so recordings from an iPhone or Android phone as well. The result comes as MP4 (H.264), which is widely supported.
How do I make a boomerang clip?
There is no separate boomerang mode here. You get the reversed clip as a file and add it after the original in your editing app, then the scene runs forwards and backwards.
Can I reverse only part of the video?
First cut the section out with “Video Trimmer” (up to 96 MB and 15 minutes), reverse it here and put it back in your editing app.
What happens to my video?
