Trimming, cropping, splitting: what you get here
This tool shortens the length: you keep the section between start and end, everything before and after is dropped. That is different from cropping, which changes the picture area or aspect ratio, and from splitting, which turns one video into several files. For the picture area there is a separate tool.
There are two ways to trim. Most videos store a complete frame only at intervals, a so-called keyframe; in between there are only changes, and the interval depends on the video. Trimming without re-encoding can therefore only start at these keyframes, but in return it is usually quick and picture and sound are copied unchanged. If you want to cut on the exact frame, the video has to be re-encoded, which takes longer.
Typical cases: removing the wobble at the start of a phone recording, pulling the one moment out of a long recording for Reels or Shorts, cutting off intro and outro, or trimming a screen recording down to the essentials.

How do I find the right seconds?
Play the video in the preview and read the time in the player. Fractions of a second are allowed, for example 12.5.
What is the difference between "Precise" and "Fast"?
"Precise" cuts on the exact frame and saves a new MP4. "Fast" copies picture and sound without re-encoding; the clip then begins at the nearest keyframe before your point, depending on the video even a few seconds earlier. Format and quality are preserved.
Does the video lose quality?
Not with "Fast", as long as the copy succeeds; if it fails, the video is automatically re-encoded. With "Precise" it is re-encoded at a high quality level; resolution and frame rate stay the same. Check the result in the preview.
Which formats can I upload?

Can I remove a piece from the middle?
