Mirror image – flip photos online for free
Chat shortcut: /mirror
Mirror image: drop a photo, choose the direction, download. JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF are mirrored in your browser, width and height stay the same.
No AI No Sign-Up
Images are processed in your browser, nothing is uploaded. Only HEIC/HEIF (and AVIF/TIFF if your browser can’t read them) are briefly sent to ChatX for conversion.
Mirror, flip or rotate – which one you need
Mirroring flips the image along an axis: horizontally for the classic mirror image, vertically when top and bottom should swap. Doing both turns the image upside down, which equals a 180-degree rotation. A 90-degree turn is something else; there is a separate tool for that.
The most common reason is the mirrored selfie: the front camera shows the preview like a mirror, and many phones and apps save the photo exactly that way. Text on T-shirts or signs then reads backwards. Mirror once horizontally and the picture is right again. Product photos, tracing templates and iron-on transfers often need the mirrored version too.
How it works
- 1
Drop the image
Drag a JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF into the field, paste it from the clipboard or select it.
- 2
Choose the direction
Horizontal, Vertical or Both; plus the output format: keep original (GIF becomes PNG, HEIC becomes JPG), JPG, PNG or WebP.
- 3
Download
Click “Let’s go”, check the preview and download the mirrored image.
Good to know
- Input: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF; also HEIC/HEIF from the iPhone. Output: like the source (GIF becomes PNG, HEIC becomes JPG) or as JPG, PNG, WebP; quality adjustable for JPG and WebP, default 92.
- Three directions: Horizontal (left/right), Vertical (top/bottom), Both (180°).
- Width and height are kept, nothing is scaled, images up to 100 megapixels; PNG transparency is kept if you save as PNG or WebP. Animated GIF and WebP result in a still image.
- JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF stay in your browser; HEIC/HEIF, AVIF and TIFF are briefly converted by our server without storing them.
- Free, no AI, no sign-up and no watermark; also usable on your phone.
- One image per pass; for the next one, click “Open tool again”.
Frequently asked questions
How do I fix a mirrored selfie?
Many phones save selfies the way you see yourself in the preview, that is, mirrored. Choose “Horizontal”; if the source was mirrored, lettering and logos read correctly afterwards.
What is the difference between horizontal and vertical?
Horizontal swaps left and right like a mirror, vertical swaps top and bottom like a reflection in water. “Both” corresponds to a rotation by 180°.
Does the image lose quality?
Mirroring itself only moves pixels. When saving, the image is re-encoded: PNG losslessly, JPG and WebP at the set quality (default 92); a difference is usually not visible.
Is my image uploaded?
No, JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF are mirrored in your browser. Only HEIC, HEIF, AVIF or TIFF files that your browser cannot read are briefly converted by our server and discarded afterwards.
Does the image size change?
No, width and height in pixels stay the same. The transparency of a PNG is also kept as long as you save as PNG or WebP; with JPG it is filled with white.
Can I mirror an image without mirroring the text?
No, that is not possible when mirroring. If text should stay legible, rotate the image with “Rotate image” instead.
Can I also rotate or crop?
Yes, use “Rotate image” and “Crop image”. To do several steps in one pass, use the Photo editor.
