Remove Object from Photo: People, Text and Distractions with AI
Chat shortcut: /removeobject
Remove object from photo in three steps: upload the photo, paint over what should go with the brush, check the result and download it. The AI fills in the background from the surroundings.
No Sign-Up
Cost: 9,000 tokens per run · Input and result are automatically deleted 24 hours after upload.
Paint over, fill in, done
Almost every photo has something that does not belong: the stranger in the background of the vacation photo, the cable on the wall in the real estate listing, the trash can next to the product, a stain on the old family photo. That used to mean work with a clone stamp and patience. With inpainting, the AI takes over reconstructing the background.
You upload the photo and paint over what should disappear with the brush. The AI analyzes the surrounding areas, textures and lighting and fills the marked spot so that it blends into the surroundings as far as possible. You get the result as an image to download and can process it further right away, for example crop it, upscale it or remove the background.
The calmer the background, the less noticeable the result. With large objects in front of complex scenes it is worth working in several small passes and checking in between; each pass is billed separately.
How it works
- 1
Upload a photo
Drop or select a JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MB and 6,000 pixels per edge.
- 2
Paint over
Choose a brush size between 8 and 120 and paint generously over the object, its shadow and reflection; start again with "Clear mask".
- 3
Have it removed
Click "Let's go"; the token amount is shown above the tool and refunded if the run fails technically.
- 4
Check and save
View the result enlarged; if remnants remain, upload the result again and touch it up (new run), then download.
Typical uses
Vacation and group photos
Remove passers-by, photobombers or strangers in the background.
Real estate
Retouch cables, outlets, boxes and trash cans out of listing photos.
Product photos
Take away distracting objects, price tags or holders next to the product.
Old photos
Paint over stains, tears and scribbles, then carry on with Photo restoration.
Portraits
Remove individual blemishes or stray hairs in front of a calm background.
Good to know
- Input: JPG, PNG, WebP up to 20 MB and 6,000 pixels per edge; output as an image without watermark, the dimensions are set by the AI model.
- Mask with the brush (size 8 to 120), any number of spots in one run; "Clear mask" resets. The mask is painted in the preview and transferred to the original; very fine contours become coarser.
- One run costs a fixed token amount, shown before the start; a technical failure is refunded, and every touch-up run costs again. For more runs there are credit packages and subscriptions.
- Image and mask are handed to the AI provider for computation; upload and result are deleted on our end after 24 hours (hourly cleanup).
- Suitability: calm or regularly textured backgrounds; edit large objects in front of complex scenes in several passes.
- Shortcut in the chat: /removeobject. For lettering there is Text Remover, for cut-outs Background remover.
Frequently asked questions
How does the removal work?
The technique is called inpainting: the AI looks at the surroundings of the painted-over area and computes how the background could continue there. It does not know what was really behind the object; it fills the spot plausibly.
What works well, and what does not?
Well: objects in front of sky, grass, water, sand, walls or regular patterns, such as passers-by on the beach, cables, signs, stains. Difficult: objects that cover important parts of the picture, faces or patterns with perspective; a second pass may help there, but it isn't guaranteed.
How do I paint the mask correctly?
A little more generously than the object itself, and include the shadow, reflections and soft edges; you set the brush size between 8 and 120. Masks that are too tight leave fringes. With "Clear mask" you start again.
Can I remove several objects at once?
Yes, paint over all the spots in one mask; they are filled in one run. If remnants remain, upload the result again and paint over only the remnants; that is a new run and costs again.
Can I remove text, logos or watermarks?
Text on photos can be painted over like any other object; for lettering there is also the Text Remover tool. Only remove third-party watermarks and logos if you have the necessary usage rights to the image and for the intended use.
Is the resolution preserved?
The input may have up to 6,000 pixels per edge; the dimensions of the result are set by the AI model, so check them before printing or using in a shop. For small results, Image upscaler helps afterwards.
What does a run cost, and what happens to the image?
Each run costs a fixed token amount, shown above the tool; if the edit fails technically, it is refunded. Image and mask go to the AI provider for computation (its terms apply there); on our end they are deleted 24 hours after upload.
