JPG Converter – PNG, WebP, HEIC & More to JPG, Free

Chat shortcut: /jpg

Use the JPG converter when a form, an old program or a print service only accepts JPG: drop the images, choose the quality, download. Almost everything runs right in your browser.

No AI No Sign-Up

Will be saved as JPG.

Images are processed in your browser, nothing is uploaded. Only HEIC/HEIF (and AVIF/TIFF if your browser can’t read them) are briefly sent to ChatX for conversion.

When JPG is the right format

JPG is widely supported and keeps photos small. That is why you end up here when a job portal rejects WebP, Office will not display a HEIC from the iPhone or a print shop does not accept TIFF.

JPG is less suitable for logos, screenshots with text and anything with a transparent background: the lossy compression softens hard edges, and every re-save costs a little quality. For those you are better off keeping PNG or WebP and the original.

How it works

  1. 1

    Drop the images

Drag up to 50 files into the box, paste or select them; mixed formats are allowed.

  2. 2

    Choose quality and fill color

Quality 85 to 90 for photos (default 90); for transparent areas the fill color, default white.

  3. 3

    Download the JPG

A single image downloads directly; several come as a ZIP, and you can also save each file individually.

Good to know

  • Input: PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC/HEIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG. Output: JPG; width and height stay the same, only SVG is rasterized (small ones to at least 1024 px on an edge).
  • Limits: up to 50 images per run (several results as ZIP), 100 megapixels per image, 300 MB input and 600 MB result per run; the detour via ChatX accepts up to 50 MB per file.
  • Quality adjustable (default 90); transparent areas are filled with the chosen color; animated GIFs, multi-page TIFF and multi-image HEIC yield the first image.
  • Processing in the browser, nothing is stored; only HEIC/HEIF and unreadable AVIF/TIFF go briefly to ChatX and are discarded afterwards.
  • Free, no AI, no sign-up, no watermark. Metadata such as camera or location data is not guaranteed to be carried over.

Frequently asked questions

Which formats can I convert to JPG?

Your browser reads PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and SVG itself, AVIF in current versions. HEIC/HEIF, TIFF and unreadable AVIF are converted by the ChatX server, with multi-page TIFF or multi-image HEIC only the first image. Mixed formats are allowed.

Is JPG the same as JPEG?

Yes, both extensions denote the same format. The short ".jpg" dates from the time when Windows only allowed three-letter file extensions. Some forms still demand exactly ".jpg"; this tool saves it that way.

What happens to transparent areas?

JPG has no transparency. Transparent areas are filled with the chosen color, white by default. If the background should stay transparent, use PNG or WebP.

Which quality should I choose?

For photos, 85 to 90 is a good value with usually hardly any visible difference; how much smaller the file gets depends on the source. For print or archiving 95 and above; below 70, text and hard edges usually show artifacts.

Are my images uploaded?

No, as long as the browser can read the format. Only HEIC, TIFF and unreadable AVIF go briefly to ChatX (up to 50 MB), are converted there and discarded afterwards.

Can I convert many images at once?

Yes, up to 50 files in one run. You get a ZIP file with all the JPGs and can also save each file individually.

What happens with animated GIFs and SVG?

A JPG is a single image: the first frame of the animation is used; to turn a GIF into a video, use "GIF to MP4". An SVG becomes a raster image without vector scaling; small SVGs are rasterized to at least 1024 px on an edge.
